Definition: Information Power is a form of power that is based on controlling the information needed by others in order to reach an important goal.
IP is one of the bases of social power as described by French and Raven.
Similar to Expert Power.
IP is a form of personal power, being based upon a person’s personal attributes, as are also referent power and expert power.
