Hierarchy of Needs

Definition: the Hierarchy of Needs is an early model for human needs, in which Maslow distinguishes 5 levels of human needs, behavior and motivation.
Maslow distinguishes 5 levels of needs ranging from fundamental, deficiency needs that have to be met first (base of the pyramid) to more advanced needs at the top. From bottom to top:
- Physiological needs
- Safety needs
- Love and belongingness needs
- Self-esteem needs
- Need for self-actualization.
Also called Pyramid of Maslow or Pyramid of Needs.
