Information Society

   

Definition: the Information Society is a civilization where the creation, distribution, use, integration and manipulation of information and knowledge is a significant economic, political, and cultural activity.
It is seen as the successor to industrial society and was enabled by the arrival of various key technologies, such as the internet, mobile phones and social networks.
It is one of several terms that are used to indicate that humankind is entering a new phase. See also network economy.
