Change Equation

Definition: the Change Equation is a formula by Beckhard ('69) and Gleicher to quickly assess the chances and conditions for successfully changing an organization.
The formula is: D x V x F > R
Meaning: Dissatisfaction* x Vision** x First Steps*** should be stronger than the Resistance to Change.
Because of the multiplication of the 3 factors, if one of them is zero or very low, the chances for successfully overcoming resistance are remote.
Similar to the DICE Framework, see also the change dimensions and change phases.
* with current situation
** of what is possible in the future
*** achievable initial steps towards reaching the vision
