Facilitating

Definition: Facilitating is the organizational development, group development and personal development approach of helping people from the viewpoint that it is the client who owns the problem and the solution and by seeking to enable clients to become more autonomous and taking more responsibility for themselves.
In other words it is not the facilitator's job to take the client's problem on his shoulders.
According to John Heron ('75) there are 3 facilitative interventions:
- Cathartic (empathizing)
- Catalytic (questioning)
- Supportive (praising, valuing).
The F approach is frequently used in coaching, counseling, and mentoring.
